Pension calculator
See how big your pension pot could grow, what it could pay you each month once you retire, and how much more to pay in if you want a higher income.
Private by design. Everything you type stays on your device: the maths runs in your browser and nothing you enter is saved or sent to a server.
About this pension calculator
This free calculator projects how big your pension pot could be when you retire and what income it could provide. Enter your age, the age you want to retire, what you and your employer pay in, and it grows the pot month by month after charges, then turns it into a monthly income after income tax. It includes the new State Pension and works for most workplace and personal pensions.
What it shows
- Your projected pot at retirement, in today's money or in future pounds, and where it came from
- Your monthly income in retirement after tax, with and without the State Pension
- What paying in really costs you once tax relief is counted, for relief at source, net pay and salary sacrifice
- How long a drawdown pot could last, or the income a lifetime annuity could give
- Whether you are on track for a target income, and how much more to pay in each month to reach it
- What paying in more, retiring earlier or later, or lower investment growth would change
How it is calculated
Growth is added monthly at an equivalent rate to the yearly figure you enter, less charges, and contributions are paid in at the end of each month. Retirement income and tax are worked out in today's money using this year's tax bands, assuming they rise with inflation. It does not model final salary pensions, specific providers or funds, the lifetime allowance rules for very large pots, or carry forward. It is for guidance only and is not financial advice.
